9th May of this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Guernsey after five long years of occupation by German forces during World War 2. Liberation Day continues to be an important and poignant day in the history of the Island.
Musicians from one of the best orchestras in the world perform with Peter Donohoe to commemorate the 70th Liberation anniversary. Poignant personal stories unfold in the readings of diaries and letters written by islanders during that time.
Guernsey charity ACTIVE (formerly MENFUN) are holding their regular car boot sale at Alliance Car Park in St Sampson, in aid of local people with learning difficulties, in collaboration with other local charities.
Enjoy a guided walk with historian Ian Ronayne around Rozel Bay, exploring Jersey’s wartime fortifications and beautiful countryside whilst being serenaded by violinist Harriet Mackenzie and guitarist Morgan Symanski. After the walk is a concert of famous guitar and violin music by the duo in the historic chapel of Rozel Manor.
