On previous trips to Guernsey we have stayed at the sister hotel the Old Government House but as we were unable to book there this time, we chose the DoR instead. It turned out to be just as good as the OGH and despite the review saying "appalling" we thought it was very good. The staff can't do enough for you and it is very comfortable.

But, it really is up a steep hill. I am fit and it doesn't bother me, but there were people staying in the hotel who had sticks and crutches and were clearly not very mobile. Maybe they got taxis everywhere, but do bear it in mind. The OGH is nearer town.

It's well worth paying the extra for a sea view and being on the top floor meant it was quiet without noisy people galumphing around over our heads.

We got married here and ourselves and some relatives stayed here too. Genuinely everything was perfect, they went out of their way to do anything and be helpful, seamless friendly service and the food and drink was exquisite. Cannot recommend enough.

This lovely restaurant is new to us. We read the reviews and found it easy to walk to from the main car park early one evening last week. The woman owner(?) was a delight! So friendly and helpful and full of fun. The meal was delicious, much better than the hotel we were staying at. Service was excellent, the price was fair and I wish I could visit again soon, but living in the middle is England it could be another year or two, thanks to all the staff.
