First thing to say is the staff are, almost without exception, terrific. My 3 rating is about the state of what claims to be a 5 star hotel. This is an old-fashioned hotel that is showing its age. We stayed in a seaview room with balcony. Seaview was there, but also view of a large flat roof. The room itself we found noisy - banging doors, one night a dog barking in the next door room. Around the hotel some carpets look worn; looking around the main restaurant, sills were dirty, the underside of chairs covered in dust. For a 5 star hotel today they may qualify on facilities but not on attention to detail and the right level of facilities cleaning and maintenance.

Egypt Mill Hotel and Restaurant in Nailsworth, near Stroud is a real gem of a Cotswolds Hotel & Restaurant that has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The perfect base from which to explore the Cotswolds. With great rooms and facilities Egypt Mill is an excellent conference centre or Wedding Venue with a real difference - starting with it's own, working, water wheel!
Having known Egypt Mills since my childhood, it is such a joy to come back and see how it has changed so much. What a STUNNING VENUE with not only history and nostalgia but with an added twist of a contemporary feel within the bar, restaurant, event facilities and all 32 bedrooms. I can not recommend Egypt Mills more highly. Family friendly and staff that always welcome you with a smile & excellent service.
