If you were a 'Norf Watford' kid like me, then it's highly likely then you’ll know the excitement when Watford Rotary’s Santa and his sleigh visited your road, waving to you and your neighbours, whilst his helpers walked up the road with their buckets collecting money for charity. 

The moment that you heard the sounds of the festive music and buckets then you knew that it was time for your annual visit from Santa and his float (there was no social media back then, so it was a complete surprise - we believed it was The Real Father Christmas).  

If you were lucky enough then your Mum would let you go up to the float for a closer look and to give a big wave to the big bearded man himself, whilst you pop the spare change (that your parents have scrambled round the house for) in their collection buckets.  And if you were really lucky you got a lolly pop (not sure if Watford Rotary’s budget still stretches to this, so please don't bank on getting one).
