Watford Museum has been awarded a Tourism Rosette for the seventh year running.  The award is a testament to the museum's rising visitor numbers and innovative events and activities.

VisitEngland praised the range of interesting items and artifacts featured along with their beautiful gardens.

It was acknowledged that despite the museum's collections growing significantly many displays that have remained the same since opening in 1981 and that the museum is in need of refurbishment and facilities in need of modernisation.

The museum, which is in the beautiful Grade II listed building, Benskins Brewery Mansion in the Lower High Street, are applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund for some money to completely refurbish the building, not only improving access and for the building to be fit for purpose, it'll also ensure visitors can really engage and interact with the amazing historical and art collections on display.

If you've not been for a while or never been then it's a fantastic place, telling the story of Watford past and present, from local history and industry, Watford Football Club memorabilia to The Cassiobury Collection and a fine art and sculpture collection.

There are also lots of events and activities for all ages, which can be found at Watford Museum
