Watford Ladies FC Struggle to Start

With five new signings over the summer Manager Neil Hart was keen to stress the clubs chances at mounting a push for the title and his plans to embark on an impressive cup run, however early signs are that his young squad are still finding their feet this season.

After a narrow defeat to Leeds on the opening day of the season in a game all concerned at the club felt they should have got at least a point from they travelled back home for a first home match against reigning Champions Sunderland.

In a match that the Hornets took the lead twice in it didn’t stop a rampant Sunderland squad emulating Manchester United that weekend by winning 8-2.

Watford was obviously disappointed with the result and despite a spirited first half display Sunderland proved to be too good on the day.

Next up saw the Ladies travel to the Midlands for an encounter with Aston Villa. With the away team taking a lead going in to the half Watford were still in the match but a goal just after half time knocked the stuffing out of the girls who went on to lose two more goals in the last quarter of the game.

This weekend the Hornets return back home to face Cardiff City hoping for a good performance to get their season up and running.

The match takes place at Northwood FC on Sunday 11th September with a 2pm Kick off.
