Over £1,200 was raised, for local charity Peace Hospice Care, by Councillor Simon Rubner, Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood, at his Chanukah party on the 23rd December 2019, one of his many events fundraising for Peace Hospice Care since making them his charity of choice.

More than xx people attended the Chanukah party which took place in Fairway Hall, Borehamwood.  Those in attendance included Rabbi Hoch, Rabbi of Elstree and Borehamwood, Yolanda Woolf, Trustee at Peace Hospice Care and Jo Marovitch, Starlight Manager at Peace Hospice Care.

Simon Rubner, Mayor of Borehamwood and Elstree said: “I was very pleased to help raise over £1,200 for Peace Hospice Care at my Chanukah Party.  My thanks go to the sponsors, organisers, volunteers and party guests that made this event such a success. We received great feedback from the guests who all had a good time.  Although this was a Chanukah Party I was delighted to welcome a diverse number of guests to an event only a couple of days before Christmas. Peace Hospice Care provides an essential service to residents of Elstree and Borehamwood with life-limiting conditions and their families.  This care does not come cheap and I hope that as Mayor I can help not only raise much needed funds but also increase awareness and the profile of the charity.”

Rabbi Hoch said: “It was an honour to be invited to the Mayor’s Chanukah party and I hope it will be the first of many. I was inspired to see the cross communal involvement of so many people from different backgrounds. The opportunity to spread awareness of the amazing work that Peace Hospice Care does was an important step towards increasing the involvement of the local community in Elstree & Borehamwood. I applaud the hard work of The Mayor and Yolanda Woolf in facilitating this event, may they go from strength to strength in their fantastic work!”

Jo Marovitch, Starlight Patient Services Manager at Peace Hospice Care said: “We are so grateful to Councillor Simon Rubner for all the support he is giving Peace Hospice Care. The event was a success and will help to raise the profile of the work we do in Elstree and Borehamwood.”
