This week is national ‘Recycle Week’, and this year Recycle Now is teaming up with Keep Britain Tidy, which has a 'Home and Away' theme.

In Watford, many people recycle at home, but this campaign is urging people to take part in a Big Tidy Up litter pick, and recycle any plastic bottles and metal cans you collect.

Big Tidy Up rubbish bags and tabards can be ordered free of charge from the Big Tidy Up website - www.thebigtidyup.org - when you register your event. Recycle Now will do their bit too - if you collect lots of litter during your event, including separated cans and plastics for recycling, they will pick it up and recycle it for you. Please note: they are unable to collect large bulky items of dumped rubbish as part of your Big Tidy Up.

Recycle Now can also help you if you want to organise a community clean up in your area. Your council lends out, free of charge, community clean up kits which contain litter pickers, protective gloves, hi-vis tabards, large bin bags and graffiti wipes. They will also arrange to pick up the litter you collect during your clean up event.

You can organise a Big Tidy Up or borrow a community clean up kit any time throughout the year – not just during Recycle Week.

Please pop along to Recycle Now’s Recycle Week roadshow in Charter Place Shopping Centre on Friday 24 June, 11am-3pm or you can contact them by calling 01923 235946 during office hours.
