A record breaking 1,170 people took park in Peace Hospice Care’s annual Watford Colour Run on Sunday 20th May at Aldenham Country Park – the highest number of participants to ever take part in the event. The event is also hoping to meet its fundraising target set at £42,000.

Michelle McGuffin, from Watford, took part in the event in memory of her best friend, Jane Martin-Dye, who was cared for by the Hospice. She said: "The Watford Colour Run was a great family day out full of fun and laughter, very much like Jane was! It was really nice to see so many people, of different ages, coming together to support the local charity – there was a real sense of community. We especially enjoyed the new foam zone; it really helped cool us down in the sunshine."

PORCELANOSA was the headline sponsor of the event and entered a team of over 80 people. Nicole Tresadern, UK Marketing Manager at PORCELANOSA, said: "We are proud supporters of Peace Hospice Care and greatly appreciate the work they carry out on a daily basis. Its dedication to improving the quality of life for its patients, families and carers facing a life-limiting illness is endless and commendable. Being a local business, we aim to support this fantastic local charity any way we can, including having our team covered in paint! Everyone had great fun including our volunteers who have already signed themselves up for next year."

Other businesses also supported the charity event, including: HW Fisher, Sainsbury's Watford, Bahlsen Biscuits, Everyone Active and Aero Medical Ambulance Service, alongside 35 volunteers who gave up their time to help the charity run the event.

The Watford Colour Run is one of Peace Hospice Care's big three fundraising events. The Hospice's next big family friendly fundraising event is their NightLight Walk on Saturday 7th July. To find out more information about the event and to sign up please click here or call: 01923 330 330
