More than £1,600 has been raised so far by Michele Folds, a nurse in Peace Hospice Care’s Inpatient Unit, ahead of her sponsored hair chop for the charity.

Money raised from the cut will help to support the charity in providing care to its patients.

Michele said: “I decided to brave the chop because I want to pay back the wonderful place I work so we can continue to do what we do every single day. I’ve raised over £1,500 so far but hope to raise even more for this amazing charity so we can continue helping even more people and their families.”

Declan Carroll, CEO of Peace Hospice Care, said: “I am so proud of our staff at the Hospice who not only work incredibly hard supporting our patients, but go above and beyond and choose to fundraise for us too.  As a charity in these difficult times it is with the support of staff like Michele, our volunteers, supporters and community that we can continue to provide our free services”.

Peace Hospice Care needs £5 million a year to deliver its free services.  Now, for every £1 of income received less than 20p comes from the NHS.
