Over 350 people attended Peace Hospice Care’s annual Lights of Love remembrance event on the evening of Tuesday 10th December. inside the Council Chambers at Watford Town Hall. The charity organises and hosts the memorial event each year, in order to honour and commemorate the lives of those who have died.
Jo Marovitch, Starlight Outpatient Manager, lead the Lights of Love ceremony. She said: “This was a wonderful event for the whole community, and it was lovely to see so many people support one another as we remembered the lives of our loved ones together. The evening was full of warmth and was very special for the hundreds of people who joined us, remembering those we have lost, alongside each other, as a community”.
Jason Angold, whose wife Pauline was cared for by the Hospice last year, gave a speech and shared the story of his wife and Mum to their four boys and the care she received, as he said that her time at the Hospice was “making the worst time of our lives, the best it could have been”.
Peace Hospice Care would like to thank everyone who came along to the event and donated their time and services, especially;
· Patrons Martin and Shirlie Kemp and Robert Voss CBE, and trustee Yolanda Woolf, for giving readings at the event.
· Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor and the Mayor of Borehamwood and Elstree, Simon Rubner.
· Loreto College Chamber Choir, Grimsdyke Brass Band and Charlie Smith for the music they provided during the event.
· The Kitchen in Croxley Green for providing refreshments.
