As the autumn months set in, Hertfordshire Police are advising residents to lock their sheds and gates and secure their bicycles.

There have been a number of incidents across the county, involving the theft of alloy wheels on cycles and golfing equipment.

So how should you protect your bike?

  • Make sure you have photographic evidence of the bike. Any funny marks or distinctive marking could make your bike easier to identify.
  • Buy a quality lock; just don’t forget the code for it!
  • Mark your bike with a UV pen with your postcode, meaning that Police will be able to trace them more easily.

Whilst although riding a bike is good for the environment and your health, with the rise of thefts, remember to take extra special care of your bicycle.
