Have your say on the development of Watford

Watford Borough Council is planning on a major improvement scheme for the ‘top of the town’ and wants you to have your say in how their design should take shape.

Watford businesses, residents and visitors will have their opinions canvassed on the £4.3million project, which was given the green light at the beginning of last year.

The plan is to transform the area into a key civic space with the capacity and flexibility to host a variety of outdoor events, with work planned to begin in 2013.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill, said: “Residents have been telling me they want the top of the town to be different. The perception can be that it is just about drinking. We need to ‘reclaim it for everyone’ and have it as a good space that can to be used all through the day.

“When the improvements are completed, the area should also bring economic benefits to local businesses and the town centre generally. We are still very keen to hear more of your views, so please share your opinions.”

Watford Council will be holding a full public consultation over the summer, but would like to know what people think about the exsisting space, their likes and dislikes abot the area, how they feel it could be better used and what people would like to see in the area.
