Come rain or shine, from now onwards, your local shopping centre is taking summer into its own hands and bringing the fun to the season, with a whole calendar of brilliant activities.

To kick things off, the last Saturday of each month until the end of September, the new development’s outdoor Atrium will become a live music stage where local acts will be performing from 12-4pm. The new event – known as ‘Summer Sounds’ in association with Vibe 106.7FM – will allow local musicians to showcase their talent while visitors enjoy the ambience and entertainment as they shop.

Plus, the Atrium will play host to all the latest sporting events from 1-26 July. intu Watford will give shoppers the chance to watch these events on a big screen, from the comfort of a deck chair or a bean bag. Kicking off with Wimbledon, sports fans will be able to soak up the atmosphere and sunshine, with a family-friendly crowd.

For families, intu’s national Big Bugs on Tour exhibit will be heading to intu Watford from 1-29 August, bringing children and adults face-to-face with giant British bugs including bees, ladybirds, grasshoppers and caterpillars. With reports showing that children are now better at identifying Pokémon characters than British wildlife, intu Watford will bring kids closer to nature this summer by teaching them about bugs.

Vicki Costello, general manager at intu Watford, said: “This really is going to be a summer of fun! We’re going to make it the best yet for our visitors, so it’s worth planning a visit if you’re looking for entertainment, food, great shopping and exciting activities. There’s more to come, too, so watch this space for further updates!”

Over the summer holidays, intu Watford’s nine-screen, state-of-the-art IMAX Cineworld cinema will be showing the latest family blockbusters including Disney’s The Lion King, Playmobil: The Movie and UglyDolls. Plus, there will be daily kids’ showings of less recent films at bargain prices.

Families looking for a fun day out will also be able to enjoy intu Watford’s 14-lane Hollywood Bowl and Rock Up’s 27 climbing walls. Plus, with 26 places to stop and refuel, nobody will be going hungry this summer!
