Get fit and go Green in Watford

The Green Gym is one of the ecology events on offer in the Colne River area over the coming month to help you get yourself fit whilst helping look after one of the Watford area's important ecological areas.

A unique programme, Green Gym sees local volunteers coming together to improve a local green space, improve their fitness, meet new people and learn new skills.

The team leaders will start and end each session with warm-ups and a warm down, and there's even tea and biscuits halfway through. No previous experience is needed as leaders with real expertise will be on hand to help out, and all of the tools are also provided - just make sure you're wearing clothes you don't mind getting a bit grubby, and some stout shoes.

How much work you do it entirely up to you, whether you stay for an hour or an entire day, you'll be welcomed along on the banks of the River.

Over the last year, the scheme has seen work undertaken to improve the river, Knutsford Playing Fields, The Timberlake Allotments and Radlett Road Playing Fields. And there are several other events in other locations such as clean up work at Oxhey Park, Harebreaks Wood Local Nature Reserve and the chance to help clear vegetation at Cassiobury Park Local Nature Reserve.
