Did we blink and miss it? The new school year is only a few short weeks away and the 'back to school' sales are in full swing in many of the shops in Watford.

So make sure you make the most of the rest of your holidays - and the legacy left by London 2012 - by getting active in Watford this August.

Have you been inspired by Tom Daley and Becky Adlington in the pool? In association with 'Everyone Active', Watford Council is offering free swimming for under 19's for all Everyone Active members.

You can join at either the two leisure centres involved in the scheme and all you need is a photo ID and proof of residence. Please note that under 12's also need a parent or guardian to sign the form.

For more details, call the centres on 01923 892710 for Everyone Active Woodside or 01923 296750 for Everyone Active Watford Leisure Centre Central.

Watford Council also operates two adventure playgrounds in the area, which can be found at Leggatts Way and Vicarage Road, as well as the popular 'Play Rangers' scheme in open spaces around Watford. With activities including circus skills, den building and tree climbing, all run by fully trained staff, it's a great way to get out of the house.

Visit Watford Council's website for more details.
