The incredible interactive charity tree changes colour – to a festive hue of your choice – every time you donate to Home-Start Watford. Will you pick green, red, blue or maybe pink?

The charity offers support and friendship to families in need, through services including home visits, home help, family stay and play sessions, one-to-one support sessions and counselling.

intu Watford has installed the LED-lit tree outside Next as part of its festive extravaganza of Christmas decorations, and it will remain in place until January. The shopping centre’s management wanted to create fundraising opportunities for local good causes where possible.

Vicki Costello, general manager of intu Watford, said: “Home-Start Watford is an important charity in our town, and one we are delighted to offer our support to. If you’re visiting the shopping centre this Christmas and can spare a few pennies, then pop along to the tree, make a donation and choose what colour you want the tree to be until the next donation comes in! Or come and support one of our other good causes – we can’t wait to see you there.”

In addition to the colour-changing tree which is raising money for Home-Start Watford, the ever-popular charity gift wrapping service is returning. Wrapping volunteers will work their magic on your pressies in exchange for donations, and each day until Christmas Eve a different charity will benefit. The desk is on the lower mall near M&S.

But that’s not all! intu Watford is also working with Heart Hertfordshire. Watford FC and local charity Mencap on the Give A Gift campaign. Shoppers are being asked to purchase an extra gift for a toddler, child, teen or young adult this Christmas, and pop it in the giving box by 16 December ready for it to be passed on to a local child in need in time for the big day. Find out how it works at www.intu.co.uk/watford/events/give-a-gift-campaign

And while you’re there, there’s plenty else to see and do! With new shops and restaurants galore – including MOD Pizza, Debenhams, Burger King, Superdry, Jack Wills, New Look and H&M – you’ll never be bored at intu Watford. There’s better-than-ever parking, late-night shopping with free parking after 6pm for December, and more shops and leisure activities opening soon.

It’s time to discover intu Watford.
