It was an evening of celebration at the eighth Audentior award ceremony, held in the newly refurbished Colosseum on Friday 19 August.
The Audentior Awards are there to celebrate and honour the outstanding work and exceptional enthusiasim shown by organisations and individuals in Watford.
Mayor Thornhill said: "I always maintain that the Audentior awards showcase the best that our town has to offer. This evening is our way of saying thank you to our top volunteers in the town. People who give up hours of their time to make Watford an even better place to live. They do this week in, week out and many of our award winners have been at it for decades. They thoroughly deserve this evening."
The awards went to people active in a wide variety of areas as diverse as disability, homelessness, inclusive communities, charities, sport and even fishing.
