Celebrate World Environment Day with Watford Borough Council

Watford Borough Council are celebrating World Environment Day this year by offering visitors to the Harlequin Shopping Centre the opportunity to speak to experts about saving energy, solar panels and recycling.

Experts from the council will be located in the Harlequin Shopping Centre upper mall, in the area outside the Disney Store, on Friday 5 June 2010 from 10am to 4pm to talk about how we can all do our bit to reduce our energy use and save money at the same time.

There will be information on how to apply for loans and grants to generate your own electricity via solar panels, to make and save residents money each year with the new government feed in tariffs.

There will be fun activities for the kids too, with a solar energy themed drawing competition with solar powered prizes up for grabs. The competition is open to Watford borough residents with prizes for three lucky winners of the following age groups: 4 to 8, 9 to13 and 14 to19 year olds.

The competition will be judged by the Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill on Monday 7 June, when an exhibition of all of the work produced by the entrants will be on display to the public in the Harlequin’s gallery space until Friday 11 June.
