Celebrate May Day in Cassiobury Park
2nd May 2018

Everyone is invited to join the fun at Watford Borough Council’s May Day celebration in Cassiobury Park on Bank Holiday Monday from 1-3pm.

There will be Morris dancers performing at the resplendent bandstand, restored and returned to its original home as part of a £6.6m regeneration of the historic beauty spot. You’ll also be able to make your own May crown or Green Man mask, for just £1 each, at this family-friendly festivity.

The mixed-sex Wicket Brood Border Morris group and the Whitehorn Morris ladies group will be dancing for park visitors.

If that wasn’t enough, the free-to-enter Cassiobury splash pools have now reopened for the spring and summer seasons. Why not walk down the hill after you’ve visited the bandstand and have a paddle?

The pools, and the adjacent Cassiobury Park Hub, were opened last year after a £2.8m investment by Watford Borough Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund. The new facilities include 30 state-of-the-art splash pads, water jets and fountains, new changing rooms, toilets, and the enticing Daisy’s in the Park café and kiosk. There are also fully accessible Changing Places facilities – which include a shower, peninsular toilet and ceiling hoist – so everyone can enjoy the Hub and paddling pools.

The much-loved Cha Café, near the Shepherds Road entrance to the park, has also been extensively refurbished as a part of the park’s regeneration.
