20th November 2010

Thursday evening found thebestofwatford at TopGolf with a group of business members and guests from businesses in the Watford area. The evening was just as we hoped it would be and TopGolf gave us a real insight into the hospitality they provide for their customers - great food and great fun for golfers and non-golfers alike.

With the help of Danielle Benson PR throughout the run up to the event and the evening itself we were pleased to welcome our business members and guests to an evening that started with an informal drinks reception and networking. We were then able to recognise the success of some of our new members and awarded framed bestof certificates to -

Esmeralda J's Exclusive - "The personal service, friendliness and quality of workmanship are fantastic."

JPA Furnitre "Excellent and attentive service, friendly and professional with advice you can rely on."

Ray Clarke Design (RCD) "Exceptional Service, friendly and professional. High quality print and design."

Shamma Dry Cleaners "Providing a good service, efficient, effective, good quality and very personable."

TopGolf "The facilities are excellent, both golfers and complete beginners have a great time."

We were delighted to be joined by Suzi Clark and Danny from Crohns&Colitis UK, the bestofwatford nominated charity for the coming year, who made a short and moving presentation on the work of the charity.  This was followed by the award for the top scorer locally for our on-line games cycle sponsored by The Harlequin and  by Fastsigns in Watford. A £50 Harlequin gift voucher was awarded to Annie Butt and collected on her behalf by Dick Northcote owner of Fastsigns.

Following the awards and an update on the innovations from the bestofwatford helping to promote great businesses and activities in the community it was down to the serious fun for the evening laid on for us by TopGolf. Everybody said they had a great time, even the non-golfers really enjoyed themselves. TopGolf also provided a selection from their menu which was very good indeed.

Top score trophy for the evening was won by Malcolm Iliff from CBJ Digital and the business card prize draw - a Family Membership worth £80 was won by Paul Thompson from Actors Roofing and Building.

Feedback from everyone who attended was hugely positive and we look forward to our next event in the early spring of 2011.
