Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a serious inflammatory disorder that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means "around the tooth." Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth.

Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth. It begins when the bacteria in plaque (the sticky, colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth) causes the gums to become inflamed.

When the teeth become loose the only option dentists and hygienists can recommend is regular cleans and PerioChip. PerioChip is a small chip that can be placed in between the gum and tooth to fight away the bacteria. This gives the gum chance to repair and tighten around the tooth to give it more support.

If you believe you are suffering from gum disease make an appointment now.
