Every year the Trust runs an internal staff recognition awards event which highlights innovation, improvements within teams and services, and staff who exemplify the behaviours outlined in the organisation’s Behavioural Framework – Kind, Listening, Inclusive and Professional.
This year’s Caring for All Awards includes the Sister Dora Award category, which is now open to the public.
Dorothy Pattison, better known as Sister Dora, is often referred to as Walsall’s very own Florence Nightingale for her dedication to nursing thousands of patients at two hospitals in the town.
Her legacy has gone on to influence healthcare locally as well as inspire new generations.
Nominations for this award should highlight an inspirational individual or team that consistently make a difference – going above and beyond to ensure quality care and positive experiences – in hospital or community service.
Dr Claire Radley, Group Chief People, Culture and Improvement Officer, said: “This is an opportunity to celebrate those staff who’ve made a positive impact on your care and treatment.
“Our staff work incredibly hard to look after the people of Walsall and further afield, whether they’re in a clinical role or a supporting service. It’s important that we pause to recognise their efforts.
“If you know someone who has gone the extra mile, having helped you and/or your loved ones, why not say thank you by sharing your stories and experiences. We look forward to hearing more about their efforts.”
All nominations should be submitted before 10pm on Friday 5 July 2026 – the NHS’ 78th birthday.
Posters will be on display around the Trust sites with QR codes and instructions on how to submit a paper copy. Staff can also assist with obtaining forms.
The winner will be announced at an event later this year.
