A young man`s dreams came true when he won a professional tournament on Friday 30th September.

Marcus Morgan (pictured), from K-Star Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Aldridge, was representing his club in Fight Series held at The Hangar in Wolverhampton City Centre.

"I was training 8 weeks for this fight" explained Marcus "and doing 2 hour sessions every evening with 5 mile runs in the morning.  I was  determined to win" said Marcus "and not let my coach, Tom Abbotts, or K-Star down."

The fight at The Hangar in the Fight Series took place at 10.30pm on 30th September and lasted only 45 seconds before Marcus won a Knock Out blow to his opponent.

"I had over 80 supporters cheering me on" said Marcus.  "It was a feeling I have never felt before, a feeling to which words can`t describe.  It was a dream come true".

K-Star Mixed Martial Arts Academy is based in Rookery Lane and supports local schools and charities such as the James Brindley Foundation.  Tom Abbotts is the coach and runs the Aldridge Academy.  Tom is the former ECMMA Midland Mixed Martial Arts Champion.

"I`ve always had a thing for fighting" explained Marcus "and earned the nick name "Mad Dog Morgan".  I never had the guidance before to do it constructively.  I didn`t get into Mixed Martial Arts until 2020 but due to Covid and other obstacles in my life the career that I wanted was  put on hold."

Marcus saw that a new K-Star Academy was opening up in Aldridge that provided the training he wanted and joined.   "I heard K-Star had a good reputation" said Marcus "for having some of the best fighters out of Birmingham and the world.  I wanted to be a part of it."

An opportunity came for Marcus to represent Aldridge on 30th September and he took it.  "I asked coach Tom if I was ready and he said that I was so I began training intensively."

Marcus is very humble about his spectacular win in only 45 seconds.   "All my credit for taking part in fights and winning goes towards coach Tom for believing I was ready to fight and training me to a high standard.  Credit also goes to the fighters who train with me at K-Star Academy in Aldridge".

Marcus is now training hard for his next tournament later in the year when he will once again represent Aldridge.

"Congratulations to Marcus" said Tom Abbotts.  "His performance was spectacular to say the least.  Thank you to everyone from K-Star who supported him and to everyone who helped during training.  It`s because of all of you turning up week in and week out that the show can go on".
