The Chair of Walsall Writers Circle is to lead on creative writing sessions at the inaugral Royal Sutton Coldfield Literary Festival next month.
Cath Edwards (pictured) is a published poet and author. She is the author of several books, both fiction and non fiction and writes prize-winning poetry often inspired by the natural world.
As Chair of Walsall writers Circle she regularly runs workshops across the region, including for the RSPB at Sandwell Valley and her Creative Writing classes for Walsall Adult Education were rated "Excellent" by Ofsted.
She appeared last month at the Midlands Fringe Festival with her alternative Shakespeare tales called Shakspeare:Tattle and Tales which were well received.
On Sunday 13th September 2026, 12:45pm - 1:45pm in the Harvey Norman store, Gracechurch Shopping Centre Cath will be running free creative writing workshops on nature.
"The benefits of spending time in nature are well known, but have you ever wanted to express the beauty and wonder of nature in words?" said Cath. "Or perhaps you already write about nature and you would like a fresh perspective?"
This friendly and fun workshop is suitable for all writers and aspiring writers, even if you
are a complete beginner.
Cath will lead you through easy, varied exercises that will help you to:
· Focus on your response to nature; this is what makes your writing unique and meaningful.
· Discover easy techniques to bring a new perspective to your writing
· Find the words to express your feelings about nature.
· Apply your new skills to fiction or non-fiction writing or poetry.
While there won’t be time to complete a whole piece of writing, you will go away with fresh ideas, several starting points and lots of enthusiasm!
