We contacted Sunny @ West Midlands Chip Van to make an enquiry for a private event. During the initial call, they were able to cater for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free guests. Based on our initial contact and social media reviews, we booked the Chip Van. The initial contact was the selling point. It was the best decision we made.
Leading up to the event, in true hosting style, I was stressed, anxious and just wanted everything to go smoothly. Sunny took all the calls and assured me everything was under control.
The team arrived on time on the day of the party. The food was exceptional. The vegan, baptised Sikhs and GF guests were delighted they had been catered for. We had some guests which required a halal option, the team without any hesitation catered for them. The customer service was great, they were interactive with the guests. They played music from the van, creating a lovely atmosphere. It really left a lasting impression. I would highly recommend them. All the feedback from the guests, days after the party have so positive; how good the food was and how accommodating the staff were.

I don't say this lightly: the West Midlands Fish Van served me one of the most memorable meals I've had in a long time, and I think about it often.
We booked them for a private event, and the staff were warm, accommodating, and genuinely lovely from start to finish - the kind of team that makes you feel like you're in good hands before the food even arrives.
Now, the food. As I have a gluten allergy, their gluten-free fish and chips were EXCEPTIONAL. Properly crispy batter, fresh fish, the real deal - absolutely no compromise on quality. And then there was the GF halloumi. I still think about that halloumi!! *sigh*
One important thing to flag: you do need to request the gluten-free options in advance. Plan ahead, because you'd be gutted to miss out. The team made it completely seamless once we'd flagged it ahead of time.
If you're looking for a fish van for an event and want genuinely incredible regular or GF fish and chips options, this is the one.

we recently had West Midland Chips Van for an event we organised at BMW Motorrad Wolverhampton . I was pleasantly surprised when Sunny turned up with the van. The food was amazing and ALL of the 75 customers we had commented on how fresh and tasty it was and it was service with a smile. I hope that we can do another event for 2026. Thanks Sunny

We were really excited when we saw that a food van was coming to Herbert’s Yard that does orange chips, even better when we saw that it was Indian inspired.
We were really disappointed though. The chips literally aren’t battered at all and the pakora just tasted like standard cod bites. Disappointing.

After being invited to try the West Mids Chip Van again, I honestly can't believe the difference.
I must have caught them at a bad time before because the difference was night and day.
The chips were delicious and crispy, and the fish pakora was beautifully spiced, fresh and delicate.
The staff were great and explained that sometimes it happens but if you let them know, they will be happy to sort you out.
We had 2 portions and we both left feeling like it was on of the best meals we've ever had at Herbert's Yard.
We will definitely be back the next time they are in town!

We hired The West Midlands Chip Van for a recent work event and they were fantastic. The food was fresh and flavorful. They offered a great selection to satisfy everyone. The staff were friendly and efficient and handled everything with professionalism making the event a success from start to finish. Very impressed with the quality and service and we will definitely be using them again for future events. Highly recommend!!!

The best food truck ever!! We had the team cater for a wedding event we had in the house for over 100 people and every single person was in awe. The food was so fresh and tasty, the staff were so lovely and accommodating and the whole vibe it bought to our event was just what we wanted! They even went above and beyond printing out our very own personalised menu, they also made sure to cater to all our needs before and throughout the evening. 100% recommend them to anyone and would definitely use them again!!

This chip van has got the best staff, always happy and on the ball, me and my wife travel a lot, we go to seasides regularly, and I’m always looking for the perfect fish & chips. The main reason why I’m always so UN-impressed with seaside chip shops is because of this van!. Which is undoubtedly the best I’ve haf, absolutely top notch, although it has ruined my seaside chip shop hunt!. Keep it up, it’s 5/5 all day.
