We arrived at the ivy house after walking out of the malt at landywood, after such poor service, also only selling pizza, the ivy house found us a table and even though food had nearly stopped let us order, it was really the best meal, all had 3 courses and each was lovely, all 8 of us had something different and all enjoyed every bit, the staff was very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us, excellent:)

We visited this venue mid afternoon. There were about 10 others in various rooms of the pub, and we were sat in what appeared to be the dining room with lovely window views over open country. There was a good selection of real ales on sale, as well as the usual lagers, ciders, wines and soft drinks.
There is a lunchtime menu with lighter bites, and the full menu, choices can be made from either. There were not many starters to choose from so we went straight onto the main course. Staff were very pleasent and helpful, and when I ordered my wifes ribeye steak medium rare, I was told that the kitchen advised that it be served medium as it enhance the flavour and texture. When the steak was served it proved the kitchen were correct. It was juicy and tasty, and nothing was left. I had lagsagnie which was obviously home made and full of taste and flavour. Deserts were ordered and enjoyed.
On the whole a very pleasent dining experience. Nothing was rushed and staff were always close at hand without being overpowering. We will definately visit again.

This old pub was a wonderful find at the end of a long day searching graveyards for my ancestors. The staff were lovely and the food brilliant (apart from the steak!).
So good we went back again the next day before heading back to London. Great food, staff and atmosphere.

We visited on a Sunday for lunch with the family. There was a large christening on at the time but they didn't let us down on service or quality of food we had pre booked as it was a Sunday so we didn't have to find a table but if we hadn't they would of found us one. It was a lovely atmosphere the food was fantastic much better than a chain pub Sunday meal, it was proper home cooked food. We will defiantly be returning!

Visited on a last minute whim on Wednesday evening and as normal had a fantastic meal. Piri Piri chicken is to die for..... not the usual overcooked chuck with fiery sauce but a tender half chicken with a sensational seasoning.
Boondoggle at its best and a tasty cheese board to finish.
Top marks to Martin and the team!

My husband and I visited The Ivy House on a Sunday for a roast lunch. Served by a miserable middle aged lady who took our order. The food arrived with a tiny amount of gravy so we asked a waitress for more which she quickley did, lovely and polite. The meal reminded me of a "school dinner" tasteless and small. We noticed how the lady who took our order, talked to the bar staff, which was quite rude and we felt sorry for them as they were friendly and chatty when they served us with our drinks. Its was our 2nd visit but will not be returning.

We've visited this fantastic pub many times now, most recently for my Mum's birthday. We had 4 different starters, 4 different mains and 4 different desserts and couldn't fault a thing. Beautiful food served piping hot and very well presented at good prices. The place was packed but we didn't wait long for food, the service was superb. The landlady is always friendly and welcoming and makes sure everyone is well looked after. This is far and away the best pub in the area and it's a shame that a couple of petty minded people have decided to ruin the reputation and business of a hard working landlady who puts a huge amount of time and effort into making sure her customers are happy and comfortable. Luckily most TripAdvisor users are intelligent enough to understand that they should judge for themselves as business owners can't really defend themselves other than leaving a response to spiteful reviews.

An amazing place to have Sunday Lunch. This traditional Pub offers a really great choice of real ales and excellent roast food for Sunday Lunch. Week days offer a la carte menus which are 4* plus.
Knocks those other rated restaurants into fits.

Just returned from The Ivy house.Had sirloin steak, cooked to perfection in charming old world surroundings. It was outstanding....the best in the area by far, I recently ate at The malt and it is mediocre in comparison.I have lived in the area for 18 years and have only ever popped in for a drink, some time ago. There is a good, reasonably priced menu ,served up by pleasant staff.......Excellent!

Stopped here today for lunch today with my mom and my children staff were nice and friendly nice quite relaxing atmosphere. I had cajun chicken which was freshly cooked a little bit over seasoned for my taste however nice and fresh the rest of the meal was nice too. Mom had the gammon which she said was good my son had the garlic cheese bread which he rated good nice pub

Visited the restaurant part of this establishment 30th Sept 2016 it was reasonably quiet but welcoming with friendly helpful staff we were shown to a table which we reserved and were offered drinks, we ordered our food but waited what seemed an age probably because we were quite hungry it always seems a long wait when you are hungry , anyway food was awesome Steak & Ale Pie, and a Pork Stack Hand cut chips, presumably different to using a machine to cut them Lol... Onion rings & Mushrooms as side orders all delicious and could not fault any of it , good generous meals that left you full to bursting, there was a pleasent ambience in the restaurant with mood music in the background, all in all a nice evening out and would highly recommend and frequent again .

It doesn't look much from the outside but it is very cosy inside. We arrived for lunch about 12.15 and it was quiet when we went in but it soon filled up. We ordered tea and coffee and browsed the menu. After a few minutes the waitress was back to take our order and we didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive which was delicious. Because they had got very busy and only two waitresses and also different rooms to serve in we had to wait a long while before ordering another drink and a pudding but otherwise we found it very good.
