About Us
I've (Marianne) have been there. When I first tried to get a mortgage I was rejected. I was living at home, I wanted to move out, I'd seen a flat I really liked. I worked at a building society at the time (I wasn't a mortgage advisor then) and I didn't think getting a mortgage would be a problem. But i was rejected - the traffic light system was red, the computer said No! It was a rude awakening. I was embarrassed . What was wrong with my credit report? Why couldn't I get the flat I'd fallen in love with?
Luckily I had a brilliant mortgage advisor who wouldn't take no for an answer. She went the extra mile, she wanted to know why. She spoke to the underwriter and chased it until she had an answer. In the end my credit history wasn't the problem but there were marks against the address where I was living. She appealed and got the decision overturned and I got my own place to live in, which I'd dreamt about for so long.
I believe if I hadn't had such a thorough and diligent mortgage advisor, I would have taken no as the answer and carried on living at home or renting. Opening up finances is a big thing, it's like bearing your soul.
