What a turn on

Deck the halls they say, light the lamps, trim the tree...
Okay I'm feeling the first flush of excitement and it's not even half way through November yet!

And this week it all starts as the commercial slide towards the festive season begins with the switching on of the town's Christmas lights, on Thursday 12th.

The lights through the town will be switched on at 3pm, but at Santa doesn't arrive at Royal Victoria Place until 4.30pm, the lights in the shopping centre itself will be switched on at 5pm. As ever with any Christmas lights ceremony, the local panto - Peter Pan at the Assembly Hall Theatre - will be represented by cast members keen to meet the White Bearded One. With only a month to go until opening night, let's hope they've been rehearsing hard.

There will be plenty of other Christmas events going on in the area throughout the festive period, so keep an eye on our Tunbridge Wells events page.Certainly I will be checking out the Sparkling Christmas Market in the Pantiles on 5th, 6th, 19th and 20th of December.

I wonder if it will look anything like the Morrisons advert aired for the first time this weekend - filmed in the Pantiles and Calverley Park, Tunbridge Wells has once more proved a popular venue for their Christmas campaign. Which always makes me chuckle as they closed Morrisons in Tunbridge Wells down... Oh the irony!
