How To Eat Out And Influence People

I went out for lunch recently with friends - yes another birthday, spring's full of them.

We found ourselves at Woods Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells - beautiful cuisine in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

On the Pantiles, Woods is a nice restaurant to go for a spot of lunch - friendly staff, reasonable prices... and a commitment to make their diners feel welcome and at ease.

The food is good quality fayre, with a broad menu and good selection. As a group we do love to eat, some indulged in starters, some stuck to their lighter dishes, others had mains and desserts. I love their Eggs Benedict and Potted Smoke Mackerel, and was torn between the two. So I ordered one and nabbed some of the other from a friend!

It's finally getting warm enough to make the most of Woods' outside tables - a lovely spot in an historic part of Tunbridge Wells.

My highlight of the lunch - aside from the excellent company I keep of course - was dessert. Tipping me slightly over the comfort edge after two previous courses, I indulged in the Rhubarb and Ginger Trifle with Rosemary Shortbread. Heaven.

I'd go back there just for the dessert really - or kidnap the chef for the recipe.
