Mark Cavendish was named Manx sportsman of the year on Thursday and took the chance to thank the Manx public for their continued support.
Cavendish who now lives in Italy told BBC IOM: "It's a rare visit home and I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me.
"I can't wait to catch up with all my old friends and go riding in the place that I love."
The 24-year-old is the most successful cyclist in British history.
He added: "I am determined to win the Tour de France Green Jersey this year and to win gold at the World Championships."
