Douglas, ISLE OF MAN - 27 October 2008 - Sherrilynne Starkie, of
Douglas-based Strive Public Relations Limited, will be part of a panel of
experts discussing the value of PR for start up companies on an upcoming
live episode of the profession's most popular podcast, For Immediate
Release: The Hobson & Holtz Report (FIR). Several high profile bloggers
have recently published articles suggesting that startup CEOs can do their
own PR just as effectively as a professional. The aim of the FIR show is to
debate the pros and cons of using outside PR expertise at an early stage of
a company's development.

"I've worked with a fair number of technology start ups and in my
experience, the CEO typically has too much on their plate to be able to
focus on PR," said Sherrilynne Starkie, managing partner, Strive Public
Relations Limited. "In addition, as the driving force behind a new company,
the CEO possesses a great deal of technical expertise, but often lacks the
necessary marketing and communications skills required to help get a
company off the ground. It often takes the outside perspective of PR pro to
create momentum."
FIR is be co-chaired by two of the world's most well-known social media
and communications experts, Neville Hobson and Shel Holtz. The twice-weekly
podcast explores the intersection of online communication and public
relations and has attracted a loyal audience of thousands of communication
professionals around the world.
