A series of roadshows are being held around the Island next week with the aim of growing the number of volunteers at Noble’s Hospital.
The roadshows will take place between 09.00 am and 12.00 noon at the following venues:
· Shoprite, Derby Road, Peel on Tuesday 12 April
· The Co-operative, Ramsey on Wednesday 13 April
· Shoprite, Port Erin on Thursday 14 April
· The Strand Shopping Centre, Douglas, on Friday 15 April
Noble’s Hospital has a dedicated team of valued volunteers who work across the hospital supporting patients and their families. Roles include: Meet and greeters, clinic guides, mobile book service, mobile hobby service, dining companions, befrienders, non-medical volunteer escorts for the Patient Transfer Department and supporting people affected by cancer in the Macmillan Information Centre.
Barbara Scott, Director of Operations (Acute Services) at Noble’s Hospital, said: “Our volunteers are an integral part of hospital life – part of its fabric – and compliment a variety of services supporting patients and their families. Given the important role volunteers play, we are always looking to grow numbers. The roadshows will give us the opportunity to step outside of Noble’s Hospital and engage with the community, raising greater awareness of volunteer opportunities at the hospital in the process.”
“I would also like to encourage anyone who wants to find out more about the volunteering opportunities available to come along to a roadshow for an informal friendly chat. Volunteering can suit people from all walks of life. If someone has a few hours a week they could spare and enjoy working in a variety of roles, then Noble’s Hospital has just the opportunity. Our Island is brimming with potential and it is our aim to attract people from all walks of life to join our existing team of committed volunteers.”
Dawn Stanton, Front of House Manager, said: “The Volunteer Service has a robust recruitment process to ensure that all volunteers are properly recruited, selected and trained. No experience is necessary, just a willingness and desire to help others. Volunteers need to be aged 18 or above and be able to commit to a regular session.”
