| John Shimmin, MHK, Minister for Local Government and the Environment said: ‘Journeymatch was launched a year ago and people are using it more and more to save themselves money, reduce the hassle of commuting and reduce congestion. Making use of modern technology and resources like Facebook to support journeymatch helps all of us to make the small changes that make a big difference.’ Peter Longworth, Energy Initiatives Officer with the Department of Local Government and the Environment, explained: ‘It’s becoming more and more common to communicate via social networking sites. Sites like Facebook help us keep up-to-date with any changes or news from our friends or groups. By joining the journeymatch Facebook page and forwarding it to your friends, we’ll have even more people finding a match for their journeys.’ There is also a quick link to the Carshare calculator to work out how much Journeymatch could save you each year. We’re looking forward to hearing who has the record saving. Martin Hall, Chairman of the Energy and Climate Change Officer, Group said: ‘The sort of things we will use the page for is news releases and updates because not everyone reads the newspapers or listens to the radio, and being internet-based means we know it goes directly to people that want to know about it.’ |
