Bradford & Bingley International were the corporate sponsors of this year's
highly successful Sir Norman Wisdom Wooden Spoon Celebrity Golf Day and Gala
Dinner, last week. The event was hosted by Liverpudlian comedian Stan
Boardman and even Sir Norman himself made an appearance.

The Wooden Spoon Isle of Man is a rugby-based charity that supports
disadvantaged children and young people in the Island. Last year they
kitted out the children's play yard at the new Hospice Isle of Man and a
wing of the new Project 21 building.

"We are enormously proud to sponsor this prestigious event," said Lynette
Byrne, Acting Managing Director for Bradford & Bingley International. "It's
our privilege to support an excellent charity such as The Wooden Spoon Isle
of Man in helping disadvantaged kids."

Former World Snooker Champion Dennis Taylor took part, as did former Chelsea
and Liverpool footballer Toney Hateley, former Grand Prix world champion
Jeremy McWilliams and BBC motor sports pundit Steve Parrish.

Other sporting names included ex Liverpool and England striker David
Johnson, former Everton and Leeds striker Duncan McKenzie, former Liverpool
and Scotland defender Ron Yeats and former World Boxing Champion John H
Stracey.

In addition, many top performers from the show biz world including Paul
Boardman, Shel Mcrae and Danny Roman were on hand.

A Wooden Spoon spokesperson said, "More than £12,000 was raised on the day,
making our event a great success. Our thanks go to Bradford & Bingley
International and everyone who took part for their generous support".
