A wish and a prayer for a safe TT

TT is here at last !

Welcome to all the visitors to our island and here is hoping for an enjoyable and exhilarating festival. There is no doubting that this is not a motor racing track for the faint hearted and every year all concerned on the Isle of Man and throughout the motor bike world are sickened to hear of fatalities and injuries.

I am sure you will all join me in a heartfelt wish and prayer for a safe and injury free TT.

In the event of incidents the Department of Health is urging Motorcyclists to carry cards which could help Para medics save their lives.  You can read the full story here on the BBC website.

Those who have signed up for the scheme will affix a small sign on their crash helmet to indicate that they are carrying a card.

It contains their name, post code, date of birth and a brief medical history, including current medications being taken.

The Crash Cards are available from Noble's Hospital, motorcycle outlets, the Sea Terminal and police headquarters.
