Down's Syndrome Isle of Man is a parent run group established over 30 years ago to provide support to people and families with Down's Syndrome.

Down's Syndrome is a set of mental and physical symptoms that result from having an extra copy of Chromosome 21. The extra copy changes the body's and brain's normal development. It is not a condition that can be cured, however, early intervention can help many people live productive lives well into adulthood.

It is important that society develop attitudes that will permit people with Down's Syndrome to participate in community life and to be accepted.

Literature: The Society has an extensive resource of literature located at the Isle of Man College. This is continually increasing with new research and publications.

Meetings and Social Events: Regular meetings are held offering support to parents/carers. Annual social events and outings on the Isle of Man provide an opportunity for everyone with Down's Syndrome and their families to get together in a relaxed and informal environment.

Representation: Founder member on the Board of Centre 21 and a member of the Learning Disability Consultative Group.

Education: Offering specialist courses for families and professionals providing up to date information in the research and developments in Down's Syndrome.
