This year’s campaign will feature three men and a woman holding up pledge signs with the words #whiteribbon
White Ribbon Day is a symbolic campaign which demonstrates that domestic abuse is unacceptable.
It sees men - including those in high profile public positions – wearing a symbolic white ribbon to demonstrate that domestic abuse is not acceptable and should not be tolerated.
A number of events are taking place around the borough in the build up to White Ribbon Day on Wednesday November 25 to raise awareness of the campaign.
This includes:
· a social media campaign featuring photographs of prominent people and personaltities in the borough holding up a pledge card
· raising awareness and collecting pledges at sports fixtures including a Telford Tigers game on Sunday 29 November
· a charity football match between the council and the police at the New Bucks Head, also on Sunday 29 November at 1pm. Entrance is free
· a White Ribbon Day Run in Telford Town Park on Saturday November 21
· various events to collect pledges on White Ribbon Day itself including at Southwater One and TCAT
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “I am very proud that here in Telford, we are a White Ribbon Town because that demonstrates our commitment to preventing domestic abuse.
“I would urge residents to pledge their support for the campaign. We have already had a number of local personalities sign up."

Andrew Mason, chairman of Telford and Wrekin’s Safeguarding Children Board, said: “The Telford & Wrekin Safeguarding Children Board is proud to support White Ribbon Day as preventing domestic abuse and supporting the victims of domestic abuse is one of our key priorities.”
