What makes a good butcher?!

As we get towards the end of the year you begin to think about what has changed in the last 12 months and where your business is.

I am Simon Badley, managing director of G. N. Badley & Sons, and I think it’s important to know what makes a good butchers.

Obviously from your butchers you want meat. Good meat. Quality meat that will taste great. And that is at the forefront of what we do here at G. N. Badley & Sons, we have locally sourced meat that can be traced right back to the farm and provide the best dining experience for your customers.
You would hope - and hope we to - that every butcher does this.

But what else makes a really good butchers?

I think there are three main things - range, delivery and customer service.

The range we offer at G. N. Badley & Sons has expanded so much over the past 10 years - we’ve been going for almost 40 years since my dad set up the business in 1976 - and during that time we have adapted to our customer’s needs.

We still provide the sausages, steaks, ribs and joints as we always have but what about food infused with chilli? What about the more exotic meats like kangaroo and crocodile? Not only is our range of meats one of the things that sets us apart, we love finding out more and constantly challenging ourselves. We have also begun to produce meat boxes, where customers have a different option.

Delivery – we can deliver across the UK within 24 hours. We have customers ordering from our family business in London, Scotland and Blackpool.

With our busy online ordering system, we have to make sure our delivery service is top notch - and our drivers always have a smile.

That helps with the customer service too. Have you ever been in G. N. Badleys & Sons and our staff don’t provide just what you want - and if they can’t do it there and then, they do their best to sort it for you as soon as possible - and also ask you how your day has been. Most of our customers end up becoming friends. My mum Kay, who works in the shop, could tell you so much about a lot of people who buy meat from us, she’ll talk to anyone.

As a business we aim to please and with our priorities we think we’re doing it- if you think there are other priorities that we need to improve we’d welcome your feedback and input into how we can make out business the best in the UK.

In the mean time, we’ll keep adapting, delivering and talking to you to make sure we are the best we can possibly be.
