The Market will again be staged principally in the Market Square but will also spread to other areas within the Town. On both days the Town will be transformed into a bustling Italian market place, with market traders from Italy  selling a variety of goods.

This innovative and authentic Italian market comprises a wide variety of stalls selling the wonderful tastes of Italy. Foods, including a vast array of cheeses and cured meats, a wonderful selection of cakes, sweets and a variety of biscuits, will be on sale. Also for sale will be a variety of olive oils, balsamic vinegars and a selection of olives as well as interesting shapes and sizes of pasta and specialty breads.

Savour the famous nougat cake, Torrone, and sample hot foods, including Arancini and Salsiccia Italiana, known as the Italian hotdog.

Simon Faro, owner of Italia in Piazza, selects only the best produce for the market says, “All our stall holders offer visitors a truly Italian experience. The quality produce you expect to find in Italy is brought to your doorstep by professional Italian people who offer great customer service and create a vibrant atmosphere.”

The hosting of the market follows the publication of the Vision 2020 Report that was written by Rob Francis following its commission by the Town Council. In the survey that was conducted it indicated that 80% of respondents wished to see more specialist markets and fairs being staged in the Town. Therefore the hosting of this market is a further response to this view and is seen as complementing the retail offer within the Town and hopefully will increase the number of visitors to the Town.

Howard Perkins, Town Clerk said that “the hosting of this market is seen as being a positive idea to increase footfall and provide further retail opportunity within the Town. It is hoped that many visitors will wish to visit the Town on both days and receive a flavour of Italy and that they also visit the other businesses within the Town. It is pleasing to note that the market has been supported by Telford & Wrekin Council, the Market Company and other external partners.”
