Friday 24th July marked the big day for The Place, Telford's most popular theatre as it re-opened following 6 weeks of intensive work to modernise the facilities.

The first star to tread the boards in the new-look theatre will be squeaky-voiced comedian Joe Pasquale with his one-man show on August 8 - but that will just be the start.

Other stars from the world of comedy including Sarah Millican, Josh Widdecombe, Jethro and Andy Parsons are booked in to provide the laughs in September and October.

Tenor Russell Watson will perform on September 28, while for youngsters the popular Sing-A-Long Frozen show comes to Telford on September 19.

Familiar TV names such as psychic spirit mediums Derek Acorah and Sally Morgan and John Challis, who played Boycie in Only Fools and Horses, are also booked to appear.

As part of the refurbishment the cafe has been given a new look and now offers a pre-show meal with refreshments ahead of selected shows from September.

The theatre has a new box office with information points, and digital screens where theatre goers and customers will be able to find out about the latest shows and performances.

The fully licensed bar area is due for additional work in the autumn.
