A group of local business owners met at the Park Inn in Telford yesterday to talk about social media for buisness.
Your temptation would be to stop reading this blog now (yawn, heard it all before) but persevere - the meeting went somewhere we hadn't necessarily expected it to.
The day had gone much as planned up until the point that Jim Hawkins from Shropshire radio talked to us about his social media experiences. As many of you will know, Jim is a prolific Tweeter and he talked about his desire to make a difference with his job rather than just be entertaining. I can say that he does both of course but Jim is too modest to say this.
The point is (getting to it rather than droning on) is that we all have an opportunity to change the way things are and the way people think just through using Twitter.
What if we all used Twitter to do something kind or something good?
What if there was a 'Telford Twitter for Good' group where membership was free and all you had to do was do something on Twitter which is good or kind?
How different could Telford be if we all thaught about using Twitter to improve the place where we live? Either through offering a service, giving something away you don't need or offering to help someone just for it's own sake. The list is endless - just do somethong good.
So over the next few days you might see someone on Twitter talking about 'Telford Twitter for Good' and lets see where it goes. Who knows, it might just change the world we live in or at least Telford for starters.
