The soft play area, which can be found at Telford Ice Rink, was opened in 2013 following a major refurbishment of the borough’s ice skating venue, which is only one of 56 in the Country.

The refurbishment formed part of the first phase of the broader £250m redevelopment of the Southwater area of the town centre.

RoSPA’s Occupational Health and Safety Awards are internationally recognised and are a sought after accolade from every sector.

The Gold award recognises Telford Soft Play’s ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards within the play area, which is suitable for children aged eight and under.

Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture said: “Soft play areas are a great way to keep children active. Taking into account all of the running around, jumping and climbing ensuring that the children are kept safe is at the forefront of our minds.

“Telford Ice Rink as a whole promotes excellent health and safety and our policies become even more relevant when our customers are children. We are therefore delighted to receive this Gold award, recognising our health and safety management processes and our staff’s efforts in managing and maintaining a safe area for children to play in.

“Adults can also relax with a drink and a snack, whilst their children play safely.”

The soft play area is suitable for children aged eight and under and prices start at £2.10 (prices vary dependent on the age of the child) for using just the soft play.

The soft play facility can house up to 111 children in the junior area and 33 toddlers in the toddler area. Opening times are 10am until 6pm daily.

Facilities include tunnels, ropes and ball pits. The soft play area is also available for parties and exclusive hire.
