G. N. Badley &  Sons - the family run butchers, based in Gibbons Road, Trench, linked up with Redrow to create a ‘Redrow Builders Banger’ to feed up to 100 people working on site at The Coppice.

Operations director Kay Badley and senior butcher Lee Evans set up a barbecue at the development and, as they cooked up a storm, the aroma of the hickory smoke style pork sausage wafted across the construction site with the hungry workers quickly forming a queue for the savoury treats.

Kay said: “Around 11% of sausages consumed out of the home are eaten in the workplace and, as busy builders can burn around 300 calories an hour, they were the ideal choice to taste test our new hickory smoked Redrow Builder’s Banger during British Sausage Week. Sausages are an excellent source of protein as they contain all the essential amino acids necessary for growth, maintenance and repair of body tissue.  Sausages can also provide vitamins and minerals.”

Now in its 18th year, British Sausage Week is a celebration of the highest quality pork sausages from around the country.

Sausages were first made by the Sumerians (modern day Iraq) 5,000 years ago and are thought to have been brought to Britain by the Romans before 400 AD.

There are more than 470 recipes and flavours for sausages nationwide and G. N. Badley & Sons now offers 15 flavours from their shop in Gibbons Road or online.

G. N. Badley & Sons were inspired to create the hickory smoked Redrow Builder’s Banger by a woodland walk, which forms part of The Coppice. The sausage includes pork, tomato, paprika and a hickory smoke.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Linking with G.N. Badley & Sons is a great way to celebrate British Sausage Week and the team on site really enjoyed tucking in to the bangers. It’s estimated that the average household spends around £35 a year on sausages and so we were happy to be able to offer packets of the Redrow Builder’s Banger to homeowners at The Coppice on the house.”

The Coppice offers a sizzling choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s sought-after Heritage Collection.

To enjoy a taste of life in a brand new Redrow home, visit the show homes, open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information, call 01902471096 or see www.redrow.co.uk/coppice
