Three of the team at Park Inn by Radisson Telford joined approximately 37,000 other brave and foolhardy people to run 26.2 miles on one of the hottest days on record for the race in the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 17th April.

Lucja Leonard, General Manager, managed a time of 4h20 to complete the course and raised over £1000 for Cystic Fibrosis, and still counting as donations keep tumbling in.  Josh Green, Leisure Club Attendant and his dad, Martin Green, managed a time of 6h15 and 4h30 respectively and both have managed to raise £500 each for Trauma Care, and still counting!

When asked how the day went, Lucja stated ‘What a day, the crowds were amazing cheering me on, calling my name, they were at least 5 deep at every step of the way and then more at other parts.  It was a tough, tough race due to the number of people taking part, the first few miles I couldn't even run as we were hardly moving, and the heat was tremendous (for us over here in the UK, 20 degrees for a marathon is a killer!) and I have a sunburned face to prove it!  I have my medal and the absolute satisfaction of saying 'Yes I Did It'.  What an experience!’.

It will be a few weeks of gentle recovery for Lucja, until she needs to get back into the training regime ready for 2 more marathons later this year, La Medoc in France in September and Philadelphia in USA in November.  Josh is keen to get back to training and ready to sign up again for London when the ballot opens on the 26th April for next year’s race.
