Shropshire-based PCB Solicitors invited people from across the county to have their wills drawn up for free as part of Free Wills Month and Will Aid, which supports the work of nine leading national charities including Age UK, NSPCC and Save the Children, and this year marked the firm’s sixth year of supporting the Will Aid campaign.
Pauline Davies of PCB Solicitors, said: “We are a huge supporter of Will Aid, which is a fantastic initiative that not only increases public awareness of the importance of making a will, but also raises funds for some extremely well-deserved causes.
“We were inundated with enquiries from local residents who were interested in seeking professional expertise when making their will. Many people were surprised about the simplicity and inexpensiveness of putting together a will, as it is often believed to be a lengthy, time-consuming, and costly process, which often means people delay making one.
“Helping clients write a will can be an extremely worthwhile experience as it involves listening and problem solving, whilst ensuring the best possible outcome for the individual. For example, many individuals chose to leave to charity in their will, which is often a useful way to reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax payable.
Some people feel their income isn’t large enough to donate to charity in their will, but a small contribution such as 1% of the value of their property could make a real difference without depriving family or loved ones.” “Although Will Aid month has finished now, we offer an excellent rate for those looking to make a will, either individually or as a couple.
