New BBQ Boxes for National BBQ Week!

A butchers in Telford which pioneered a scheme to have meat delivered to your door has revamped the service to celebrate national barbecue week (May 25 - 31).

Since the meat box scheme was introduced by G. N. Badley & Sons in Gibbons Road, Trench, in February last year, the company has delivered hundreds of boxes of meat to houses across the UK.

And to celebrate the family firm has introduced a new basic meat box for £20 and a premium meat box for £50, which includes more steak.

Managing director Simon Badley, whose father set up the company in 1976, said: “We are one of only three butchers in the area that offer online ordering, which already sets us apart, but we are believed to be the first butchers in Shropshire to introduce the meat box scheme.

“We got our inspiration from the popular vegetable boxes offered by farm shops across the UK, but we never imagined how popular the meat version would be.

“We are pleased with how well it has taken off and when we launched barbecue boxes last summer it even gave us the chance to raise hundreds of pounds for charity, something we hope to do again this year.

“As it’s barbecue week this week there’s no better excuse to try them out.

“We are always looking to improve the service we offer to customers, though, and we heard people mentioning that they’d prefer a cheaper option just to try before sampling other meat boxes - so that’s exactly what we’ve done.”

Customers can buy a one off box in a variety of styles or sign up to a regular subscription of deliveries.

Packages include meat box for two, meat box for the family, meat box for beef lovers, student meat box, barbecue meat box and the two new varieties.
Mr Badley added: “We had quite a few parents ordering the student boxes for for their children when they first went off to university in September, they said it was a great way to get food to them and ensure they are eating well.

“However you use the system, customers can always be sure that they have fresh meat, prepared nearby and ready to cook for dinner.
“It saves the hassle of having to make sure you get something out of the freezer to defrost the night before and also means people can be safe in the knowledge that they always have fresh, good quality meat.”
