New appointments at Shropshire law firm

Shropshire law firm FBC Manby Bowdler - Solicitors in Telford has announced the appointment of a new partner and two associates as part of its on-going strategy for growth and development.

The firm which has offices in Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth in Shropshire employs nearly 200 people and turns over £12m a year.

David Preece, who joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2008, will take up the role of Partner, with Michelle Monnes-Thomas and Charlotte Nutting becoming Associates.

David is based in the Corporate department and advises on all aspects of company and commercial law from corporate transactions including the purchase, sale and reorganisation of companies to non-transactional matters, particularly drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.

David has a growing construction law practice, dealing with both standard and bespoke construction contracts.

He is also a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property, Technology & Media Law Group, advising clients on a range of non-contentious intellectual property matters, with an emphasis on the protection of IP through the registration of trademarks as well as through copyright and design rights.

Michelle joined FBC Manby Bowdler’s Wills, Probate & Lifetime Planning Department in 2014.

She provides advice on a range of private client related matters including wills, powers of attorney, trusts and estates. Michelle is also part of the Community Care team, which advises on challenging care decisions and reviewing assessments for care and long-term care planning. She is also the company’s Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends Training Champion.

Charlotte has become the firm’s resident commercial property specialist for the leisure and hospitality sector since joining the Shrewsbury office in 2014.

She specialises in freehold acquisitions and disposals, asset sales and purchases of businesses including assignment of leases or sale/purchase of freehold property, leases acting for both landlords and tenants, acquisitions of property by SIPPs, acting for lenders on secured property lending and assisting in relation to property elements of corporate transactions.
