LOCAL STAFF GET SET FOR CHARITY CHALLENGE

A group of warm-hearted women from a Shropshire solicitors firm is getting on its marks to take part in a charity fun run for the fifth year in succession.

Nine members of staff from PCB Solicitors are limbering up to take part in this year’s  Race for Life 5km fundraiser, and will be stepping out in style in a bid to add to the more than £3,000 that they have already raised for Cancer Research UK during previous years’ events.

“Race for Life has quickly become something of a focal point in all our calendars,” Julie Tipton, Archivist at PCB Solicitors, explained. “When I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer six summers ago, my colleagues at PCB Solicitors wanted to do something to try and help make a difference and keep my spirits up throughout my recovery, as many of them had also lost other family and friends to the disease. Taking part in the Race for Life seemed a fun way of raising much-needed money for a very worthy cause, whilst also enabling us all to join together and tackle a challenge outside of the workplace.”

Donning their brightest pink outfits and joining Julie, aged 44, on the 5km Race for Life fun run this year are: Alison Haughton, 44, Penny Thomas, 41, Julie Griffiths, 46, and Anna Mennell, 56, all from Shrewsbury, along with Ellen Tranter, 27, from Cross Houses, Sarah Hope, 40, from Wellington, Lynn Hobbs, 45, from Telford, and Jade Phillips, 23, from Craven Arms.

“Once again the Partners at PCB Solicitors have been extremely supportive and will be making a generous donation to the cause, whilst I’ve also been encouraging sponsorship through my Just Giving page http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/tiptonjulie. There’s been a bit of healthy competition amongst the nine ladies about who is going to record the fastest time on the day, but whoever crosses the finish line first, Cancer Research UK will undoubtedly be the biggest winners of all,” Julie added.
