Officers from Telford & Wrekin Council recently conducted a food hygiene inspection at ABC Day Nursery in Lightmoor and awarded the premises top marks under the Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations Act.

It’s the second time the nursery, which opened its doors in September 2012, has achieved the highest standard possible.

Penny Hustwick, owner of the ABC Day Nursery chain, which also has sites in Hadley, Hollinswood and Preston on The Weald Moors, said: “The inspection involved inspectors looking at our food safety management system and we are absolutely delighted to have retained our five stars with the ‘very good’ rating.

“Myself and staff at all our nursery sites take food hygiene, preparation and cleanliness very seriously.

“We always go the extra mile to make sure food is stored and prepared safely and we are pleased inspectors have recognised our efforts in awarding us top marks.”

A spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council confirmed the nursery’s overall ‘very good’ rating following an inspection by officers earlier this month.

All four nurseries operated by Mrs Hustwick, are rated outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.

Lightmoor, which currently has some spaces available in its baby room, is also the current headquarters of ABC Day Nursery, which was founded by Mrs Hustwick more than 20 years ago.

The nursery was named Shropshire’s Best Business for Children at this year’s Businesses for children Awards.
